Community & Youth Readiness Ambassadors

The Readiness Ambassador Programs empower community members of all ages to be ready when a disaster strikes.

Youth Readiness Ambassadors (ages 6–18) learn life-saving skills through fun, age-appropriate activities—like basic first aid, CPR, fire safety, and disaster planning—while building confidence and readiness.

Community Readiness Ambassadors (18+) dive deeper into emergency response, neighborhood coordination, and resilience strategies to protect families and communities.

Together, these programs create a network of prepared, proactive community members ready to make a difference when it matters most.

Community Tool Lending Library

Opening its doors in 2022 to the Caldor Fire Survivors, the Community Tool Lending Library has been a free resource for the survivors who were rebuilding their homes in Grizzly Flats, and surrounding areas, helping families in our community get back home.

In early 2024, the Community Tool Lending Library opened to our volunteers and supporting organization in our local communities to help individuals create defensible space around their homes and properties, do home improvement projects, and so much more.

Disaster Readiness Workshops

We offer free, interactive workshops to help you prepare for disasters with confidence.

1-Day Workshop: Learn the essentials—how to create a family emergency plan, disaster communication strategies, and safe evacuation tips.

2-Day Workshop: Includes everything from the 1-Day session plus hands-on evacuation simulations, recovery planning steps, and community coordination exercises.

Both workshops feature real-world insights, easy-to-use checklists, and resources to protect your home and loved ones.

Pioneer CERT & Teen CERT

The Pioneer Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) provides essential training for adults and teens to prepare for and respond effectively to emergencies. Through a combination of hands-on workshops and interactive online modules, participants gain practical skills in disaster preparedness, fire safety, first aid, search and rescue, and crisis coordination.

These programs not only teach life-saving techniques but also foster leadership, teamwork, and confidence, ensuring that volunteers can assist neighbors and support professional responders when disasters strike. By building a network of trained individuals, the initiative strengthens community resilience and promotes a culture of readiness.

Survivor Programs

During active disasters, the West Slope Foundation provides a range of programs to support survivors who have lost their homes, offering help from immediate relief through long-term recovery.

Immediate Needs deliver essential supplies and resources during evacuations and the critical weeks following a disaster, including Distribution Day events and individual supply requests.

Individual Needs offer seasonal assistance for those living in RVs or other temporary housing.

Home Again helps families transition into permanent housing by providing household essentials and “Room in a Box” kits.

Together, these programs work to restore stability, comfort, and hope for those impacted by emergencies.
